 Turkish Portland Cement CEM I / 42,5R corresponds to the Russian standard of mark "ÏÖ 500-Ä0" (GOST 31108-2003 «Cement for buildings». (This GOST operates in parallel with the old standard of GOST 10178-85 and will gradually replace this standard).
One of advantages of this standard of GOST 31108-2003 is the connection with the European standard EN 197-1, which establishes union standards for the all European Union countries (EU) classification, technical requirements and methods of an establishment of conformity of cement's quality regarding the standard requirements.
 It should be noted, that he standard of GOST 31108-2003 does not cancel GOST 10178-85 operating now, which can be applied in all cases if it technically and economically expediently. At the same time it is a good perspective for working out according the new standard documentation in the building, based on characteristics of the cement, that is harmonised with requirements EN 197-1.
That is why, manufacture of cement regarding the new GOST 31108-2003 probably can give an adequate estimation of quality of the competitors in this business, which are producing it in the CIS and EU countries .
 The basic differences of GOST 31108-2003 from operating GOST 10178-85 are :
- instead of the marks it takes the classes of the compression, similar established EN 197-1 are entered;
- for the all cement's classes regarding the durability, (except requirements to durability at the age of 28 days), specifications on durability at the age of two days, except for classes 22,5Í and 32,5Í, and for cements of classes 22,5Í and 32,5Í - at the age of 7 days are in addition established;
- all classes regarding the durability, (except a class 22,5,) can be divided regarding the speed of hardening on: normal hardening and quick hardening class of cement. It can allow to minimise the cement expense in building at the expense of its optimum selection for speed of hardening.
 In accordance with GOST 31108-2003 the names of cement classes will change. The full cement symbol will consist from:
- cement names (ÑEM I -Portland cement , CEM II - Portland cement with mineral additives);
- Portland cement with the mineral additives is subdivide into two groups: A and B. For a subtype "A" the quantity of mineral additives is limited from 6 % to 20 %, for the subtype "B" it can variate from 21 % to 35 %;
- the short name of the cement, including a type and a subtype of cement and a kind of the additive
- a durability class (22,5; 32,5; 42,5 and 52,5, that means the minimum durability on compression on 28 days, ÌÏà);
- subclass designations
- symbol of the standard

In the cement manufacturing process, in accordance with GOST 31108-2003 it is possible to add different auxiliary components in the amount of 5 % in all types of cements (including in CEM I). In a role of such components of cement can be any mineral or inert additives regulated by GOST 31108-2003. Only one thing, these auxiliary components should not raise essentially water requirement of cement, and also reduce durability of concrete or protection of armature against corrosion.
 Cement of this mark is used for manufacture of responsible ferro-concrete designs in industrial building. Cement of the mark Ì500d-0 also is effective at carrying out of emergency repair and regenerative works as it originally has high durability.
